LATEST NEWS

2017 Season

Training continues at 7:30pm sharp every Tuesday and Thursday at Poulter Park, Peterborough Road, Mitcham, SM5 1EE. All are welcome, whether they be existing or new players. We field both Senior and Reserve teams and are always looking for new players.

The Seniors defeated Kingdom Kerry Gaels in the final of the Tipperary Cup on Wednesday 28th June to lift their first trophy of the year.

Towers drew their final Senior league game of the season with St Kiernan's, meaning both teams finish joint second in the league and will meet again on Saturday 30th September, with the winners moving on to the league final against North London Shamrocks. Full details to follow nearer the time.

The Senior Championship group stage kicked off with a win over Kingdom Kerry Gaels followed by defeat to Tir Chonaill Gaels. There are various possible scenarios but a win against Parnells in the last group game should mean

a semi final berth for Towers. This game takes place on the weekend of the 23rd September, with full details to follow.

The Reserves finished in the top half of the League. In the championship the Reserves have a similar scenario to the Seniors in that a win over Eire Og on the weekend of the 23rd September should see them through to the semi finals.

This seasons results to date along with up-to-date league tables can be viewed here.

Tipperary Cup Champions 2017

Round Towers lifted their first silverware of the season when the seniors defeated Kingdom Kerry Gaels in the Tipperary Cup final on Wednesday 28th June by a scoreline of 2-8 to 0-8.

It was a well deserved win in a game that Towers never trailed in. An absolutely delighted Paul O'Donoghue accepted the trophy as captain and delivered one of the most rousing speeches in recent memory.

The lads will now look to push on and will be eyeing more silverware, with the Conway Cup, League and Championship still up for grabs.

Ladies Football Team

The Ladies have reached the County Final in their debut season but sadly lost to Parnells. However they continue on to the All British Semi Finals.

Training takes place every Monday and Wednesday evening at 7:45pm in Poulter Park, Peterborough Road, Mitcham, SM5 1EE. We are always recruiting and all abilities are welcome. For more information, email roundtowersladies@outlook.com or follow us on Twitter @TowersLadies

2016 Season Review

The Seniors ended the season with a mid-table finish in Division One and were unfortunate not to qualify for the semi final of the Championship after a decent group stage campaign. It was by-large a positive season and an improvement on the results of the previous few years. The lads will look to use this as a platform to push on next season.

The Reserves finished their campaign as double-champions, lifting both the Reserve League and Championship. It was a remarkable year for the lads that including only one defeat. The aim for next season will be to maintain both trophies and play their part in pushing the Seniors on.

Both sets of lads will now take a much-deserved break and come back in the new year for pre-season. Thanks to everyone who played a part this year in what has been a successful season, and we look forward to your continued support in 2017.

In 2017 we will be fielding both Senior and Reserve teams and play Division One League and Senior Championship. Please contact Tom Fitzgerald on 07586 612478 or roundtowers@gmail.com if you are interested in joining.
